Line & Copy Editing

A line edit primarily focuses on style, flow, and quality at the sentence level. I help you choose the strongest version of your vision while preserving your voice and unique style.

Copy editing primarily focuses on technical grammar, punctuation, and consistency. I help you polish the content on page to its best and most accurate form.

Proofreading

Proofreading is the final step before publishing. Here, I read over your manuscript to check for errors: grammar, spelling, missing or extra words, and consistency.

When is the right time for a line or copy edit?
- Line and copy editing is one of the last steps of the process. So, I ask that you have done a self developmental edit, revisions, and a self line edit before we work together. This ensures that not only are we working with the cleanest copy, but that we are editing the final copy.
Why do you need pages for a sample edit?
- This request has multiple reasons. One, so that I may verify the requirements above. I never want to charge a fee if the manuscript is not ready. Two, this allows me to see the scope of work to give an accurate quote. And three, a sample edit gives you an idea of what kind of editor I will be and if you think we will work well together.
How do you do your edits?
- I give in-line edits and feedback. For line and copy editing, it is important for you to read the changes and what they look like in your manuscript. However, I always create a comment with a copied version of what I changed and why. This way, you don't lose what you had should you decide against the change.
Do I keep the rights to my work if I hire you?
- Absolutely! You always retain the rights to your work. If I want to make promotional content, I always ask and tell you exactly what I want to use. It doesn't hurt my feelings if you tell me no. It's your work!
How do I get in touch with you to become a client?
- Submit an inquiry below with your genre, word count, and brief premise. If it is something I would take on, I will email you with a page request and return a sample edit. After you are a client, you can reach me via email. Please do not send inquiries via DM as they will be unread and deleted.
